First Day of School

The first day of school is done.  Gratefully so.
We were camping for the last four days, only getting home last night.  So getting all of the laundries washed and things prepared for today was sort of doomed.  And then I developed my worst migraine in a while last night, which put me out at 8 o'clock, leaving a few odds and ends undone.

But I managed to get everything done except printing up a routine chart for the kids, so they would know what times I was working with them individually.

All in all, we had a good first day, with the exception of some predicted attitudes.  Some of my kids really struggle to get back to "reality" after having so much fun with family and friends.

The kids enjoyed their new "council" time, probably because it came with biscuits and honey.   Today, we had our first whiteboard discussion at council time, and the things they wanted to remember were: Jacob Armitage (children of the new forest), Thomas Jefferson being president at the time of Lewis and Clark (two different children from two different books), Truth, Beauty, and Goodness being virtues we ought to look for, and the first six presidents. I think there was something in there about seeds as well.

Tomorrow's another day, and I've got granola in the oven.  We forgot some berries in the car from groceries last night, so we're going to have yogurt parfaits tomorrow to use the berries up before they go bad.
